AI vs Humanity: The Ultimate Showdown (Or Just Another Day at the Office?)

Ah, the classic stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance - we're all going through it as we face the rise of AI. It's like saying goodbye to an old friend, except that friend is being replaced by a super-smart robot that can do our jobs better than we ever could.

The emergence of AI is set to transform not only the creative industry but the whole world as we know it. While the future implications of AI remain unclear. What's evident is that it's here to stay. So, whilst it might be comforting to bury our heads in the sand and wait for this 'AI thing' to blow over, that will unfortunately only leave us trailing behind.

It's only natural for people to wonder how this will affect their work and careers, especially in the creative industry where AI is already surpassing the skills of a person.

So how will AI affect the creative industry?

With the new tools and possibilities that AI provides, the entry-level into the industry is likely to become lower. And with the increased use of AI, we're already seeing the quality of work produced getting higher. This will raise the bar for all creatives and ultimately make an already competitive industry even more competitive.

While this may seem daunting, it also presents exciting opportunities for those who are willing to adapt and embrace new technologies.

By adopting AI, artists, copywriters and designers are no longer limited by their own skills and, dare I say it, their imaginations - with the help of AI, they can take their work to the next level and beyond. With the ability to analyse data, generate content and create designs, AI has given creatives the tools to push boundaries and explore new avenues.

Take Mid Journey, for instance - it can create a stunning image composition in seconds, with quality that rivals even the most skilled human artists. And when it comes to creative writing, AI is changing the game as well, from news articles to blog posts to entire novels. AI-generated writing is pushing the boundaries of what we once thought was possible.

AI has seemingly popped up overnight and is only getting bigger in scale. With the launch of Adobe's own AI image generator, Firefly, and Google's Bard we are inundated with AI tools to use. Want to create a masterpiece without lifting a finger? There's an AI for that. Need a catchy slogan for your next ad campaign? There's an AI for that too. If you want an AI to pick out your outfit for the day, there's probably an algorithm for that as well. The market is practically bursting at the seams with AI technologies, covering just about every area you can think of. And who knows what the future holds? Maybe we'll have an AI that can do the washing and cook the breakfast.

There'll be some people reading this with slow tears trickling down their faces. Not more AI. I can sympathise. So what I will say is that although AI is incredibly powerful, it lacks a human touch. The Mid Journey image renders are great, but there's a hint of artificiality in those creations. Likewise, for copywriting, Chat-GPT is a great tool to get people going, but the human input is what really gives the words that je ne sais quoi [insert chef's kiss]. So don't worry, my tearful friend there will always be a place for us in this world of AI.

AI will not replace you, but the person using AI will

Once upon a time, designers mourned the loss of the good ol'days of hand-crafted designs and printing presses. They thought Photoshop and digital design had paved the way to a world devoid of artistic expression and soul. But let's be real, those who refused to embrace the new tools were left in the dust, clutching their pens and pencils as the rest of us zoomed past them in our digital Ferraris. It's like the old saying goes: "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." And if you're not willing to join the AI revolution, you too will be left behind.

Who knows, we might just be surprised by what we can accomplish with a little help from our robot friends. Or maybe the robots will take over and we'll be forced to live in a post-apocalyptic wasteland ruled by our metal overlords.
